Med Evac Announces Communication Center Consortium
Over the past 43 years, Med Evac has continued to grow and evolve to meet the needs of those in the communities we serve. During this time, our North Star has and continues to be assuring the safety of those entrusted to us while living our values of accountability, integrity, respect, and excellence in all we do. Our early adoption in 1996 and continuous accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) is a testament to this safety commitment.
As part of this commitment, we are excited to share that we have developed a new regional communication center, through a consortium model in partnership with multiple hospitals and air medical programs that serve our multi-state western region. These partners will include, Banner Health's, Med Evac, UCHealth's, LifeLine program, REACH Air Medical, Med-Trans Corporation and Guardian Flight. This new partnership is designed to enhance safety, improve and ease access to all levels and modes of medical transportation and enhance rapid clinical care to those we serve.
The communication consortium goes live October 20th at 0900. There will be no changes in how you request transport, and we will continue to maintain our same phone numbers and online ordering capabilities for those utilizing them.
Safety is being enhanced in numerous ways. The new consortium greatly enhances visibility to the largest fleet in the region to assure not only the most appropriate unit is dispatched when time is of the essence, but also to improve inter-agency visibility to aircraft to improve deconfliction when multiple aircraft are operating in shared airspace. Safety is also enhanced through investments in improved staffing models and state of the art technology. All of this will be overseen by a shared governance committee comprised of the participating partners. The partners will continue to operate our transport operations as usual under our respective brands. All of your points of contact will remain the same.
Service to our first responder community and health care systems will also benefit from ease of access through one call solutions that can access multiple providers. Not only will this ease and help streamline access, it also helps prevent the risky practice of "helicopter shopping" while assuring the most appropriate resource is dispatched.
For our patients and their families, this means quicker access to higher levels of care and definitive treatment that honors patient choice in partnership with their trusted healthcare providers.
